About the Ireland Fellows Programme

The Programme enables students to benefit from a prestigious, world-class, quality education contributing to capacity building whilst also profiling the best that Ireland has to offer in education. For information on studying in Ireland, please visit www.educationinireland.com

The Ireland Fellows Programme aligns with the Irish Government’s commitment under Global Ireland and the national implementation plan for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Ireland's new Policy for International Development, and Ireland's International Education Strategy.

A range of different strands are offered under the Programme. Each strand has a different focus in terms of eligible countries and subject areas. Please read carefully to check which programme you are eligible for. Please note that applications will not be considered unless all eligibility criteria have been met. It is important to be aware that some fellowships are by invitation only and you need to check what applies for your country. In such cases, embassies will invite applications from staff in designated partner organisations. Only applications from these will be considered. Unsolicited applications will not be considered.  In other countries, applications submitted under an open call will be considered.

The programme is fully funded by the Irish Government and is offered under the auspices of the Department of Foreign Affairs. The programme is managed by the relevant Embassy responsible for eligible countries. Programme implementation in Ireland is supported by the Irish Council for International Students (ICOS). » Read more.

IMPORTANT:
Irish higher education institutions require applicants to have an IELTS exam certificate (or equivalent) as part of their entry requirements. Early preparation for the IELTS exam is strongly advised, even for native English speakers.
